Athletico-PR beats Palmeiras 1-0 in the semifinal of Libertadores Cup

Athletico-PR came out ahead of Palmeiras in the semifinal of the Libertadores Cup and won the first leg of the competition by 1-0, at the Arena da Baixada, in Curitiba on Tuesday (Aug. 30). It was Palmeiras' first defeat in this edition of the competition.

In the quest to return to the final of the continent's largest tournament after 17 years, Athletico-PR has the advantage of a draw in the return match, next Tuesday (6), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at Allianz Parque, in São Paulo.

Palmeiras needs to win by two or more goals difference to qualify for the third consecutive Libertadores Cup final still in regular time. If they win by one goal, the decision will be made on penalties.
