Brazilian films now available on Festival Scope

Making Brazilian films available on Festival Scope gives them more exposure among curators, distributors, sales agents, film critics, and other professionals
Rio de Janeiro – Brazilian films have earned a label of their own on Festival Scope, a platform that lets film professionals watch films from around the world on demand, on a subscription basis. Under the National Film Agency (Ancine) brand, Brazil's productions will be made available for streaming to be viewed online, with no need to download.
Festival Scope was created in 2010 to address the demand of film professionals who most often are unable to watch all the films during a festival or cannot afford traveling for all their desired events – whether in their home countries or abroad. National cultural institutes such as Unifrance (France), the Goethe Institute (Germany) and the Luce Cinecittà Institute (Italy) all have their dedicated labels on the site to promote their national productions.
According to Ancine, making Brazilian films available on Festival Scope gives them more exposure among curators, distributors, sales agents, film critics, and other professionals who regularly use the Scope services. “It's a further step toward ensuring a greater presence of Brazilian films in international markets, in an open, democratic way,” said Ancine Chairman Manoel Rangel.
Rangel explained that joining Festival Scope is one of a number of initiatives which include providing support for Brazilian films to be shown at international events and holding the so-called Brazilian Film Conferences (Encontros com o Cinema Brasileiro),with curators of major festivals from around the world. “(The purpose is) to create an opportunity for professionals to showcase what Brazil has been doing,” he said.
In its debut on Festival Scope, the Ancine label offers seven films selected for the main feature film exhibit at Festival Tiradentes, which opens the film event calendar in Brazil.
