Actress Yoná Magalhães died this morning (Oct. 20), aged 80, at nursing home São José in the Humaitá neighborhood, South Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The reason for being admitted in the hospital and the cause of death have not been disclosed yet.

Yoná was born in Rio de Janeiro on August 7th 1935, and built her acting career in theater, TV and movies. Among her main works, she played the leading role in the film “Black God, White Devil” (1964), directed by Glauber Rocha. For television, she had starred on the old TV Tupi and performed roles in more than 30 soap operas broadcast by Rede Globo, like Roque Santeiro, Tieta and Saramandaia, in addition to miniseries.
