Average salaries rose 2.59% in 2013

Data from the General Registry of Employed and Unemployed Persons (CAGED) released Tuesday (Jan. 21) by the Ministry of Labor shows that 1.1 million formal jobs were created in 2013. Moreover, monthly average salaries at the time of hire were reported to increase 2.59% compared to 2012, going from $455.88 to $460.53.

According to the data set, mean sign-up salaries have grown steadily over the past ten years, going up a net 42.91% from $327.25 in 2003. However, the gender gap persists as average hiring salaries closed out 2013 at $494.33 for male workers as against $423.74 for females.

In the region breakdown, the Southeast led the average sign-up salary ranking with $503.61, followed by the South, $444.21. The lowest pays were reported for the Northeast, with an average $403.71. São Paulo ($531.29) and Rio de Janeiro ($530.87) were the best-paying states ​​in the country.
