Banco do Brasil (“BB”) has reported a record-breaking net profit of $6.559 last year, exceeding 2012’s $5.065 billion.
BB’s credit provisions reached $287.677 billion in December 2013, a 19.3% growth reported in 12 months. Real estate loans, credit to agribusiness and companies have seen the highest increases in the 12-month period, namely 87,2%, 34,5% and 19,5% respectively. This outcome solidifies the bank’s leading position in the National Financial System (“SFN”), and pushes up to 21.1% its participation in the credit market.
Real estate credit totaled $10 billion in December 2013. Within this sector, loans granted to physical persons increased 78%, with a balance of $7.556 billion and over 160 thousand transactions effected. As for companies, the growth reported was 122.6% within a year, or $2.449 billion.
BB’s top participation in agribusiness loans reached 66.1% in 2013, with $60.117 billion, 34.1% higher than the outcome for 2012.
The balance of credit granted to companies closed out December at $134.185 billion, showing a 19.5% rise in 12 months. Working capital and venture capital operations rose 14.1% and 26.3% in 12 months, respectively.
BB’s bad loan rate – operations overdue for more than 90 days – was 1.98% in December.
