Dollar inflow surpasses outflow by $2.1 billion

After closing out May running a deficit of $813 million in the foreign exchange flow, the inflow of dollars in Brazil surpassed its outflow in the first week of June by $2.109 billion, the Central Bank announced today (Jun 11).
The large influx of dollars into the country stems from the financial flow (security investments, profit remittances, overseas dividends, direct foreign investments, among other transactions), at $2.5 billion. As for the commercial flow (exchange operations related to exports and imports) a total negative balance of $391 million was reported over this month’s first week.
From January to June 6, the foreign exchange flow remained positive at $6.137 billion. Over the course of this period, a positive balance of 1.866 billion was reported for the financial flow, whereas its commercial counterpart presented $4.272 billion.
