After facing lows against the real for three consecutive days, the US currency is back on the rise on Thursday (Mar 19), closing out the day at the highest value in nearly 12 years. The commercial dollar closed the session at R$3.296, up R$0.082 (2.56%)—the highest level since April 1, 2003, when the dollar was reported at R$3.304.

Globally, the dollar was also seen to return to its rising trend on the day following a meeting of FED representatives, when the US economy growth forecast was reduced, indicating that the cycle of basic interest hikes in the US may start only in the second semester. Nonetheless, the optimism in the world's financial market over the last few days waned, as higher interest rates in developed countries weaken the capital flowing into emerging countries, like Brazil, pulling the dollar up.
