After a quiet day in the financial markets, the US dollar closed below $4 again and the Stock Exchange remained stable. The US currency stood at R$3.959 on Monday (Feb. 1), down 1.62%. It is the lowest rate since December 30, when it closed at R$3.948.

In the stock market, the price has oscillated during the day, but the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange index (Ibovespa) remained stable on Monday, up 0.41%, at 40,570 points.

Due to the oil price fall in international markets, shares at Petrobras have not had the same performance and plummet. The common shares (which carry voting rights in the company's board) declined 5.05% and closed at R$6.58. The preferred shares (which pay dividends to the shareholder) dropped 2.48%, and closed at R$4.72.
