The Unified Oil Workers’ Federation (FUP) announced Wednesday (May 30) that, despite the preliminary injunction issued by the Superior Labor Court—in which the strike is regarded as unlawful—walkouts were staged at refineries, terminals, and platforms on Campos bay. Rallies and demonstrations have been scheduled to take place throughout the day,
Employees have launched a strike at the refineries in Manaus (Reman), Abreu e Lima (Pernambuco), Regap (Minas Gerais), Duque de Caxias (Reduc), Paulínia (Replan), Capuava (Recap), Araucária (Repar), Refap (Rio Grande do Sul), and also at the plants Fábrica de Lubrificantes do Ceará (Lubnor), Araucária Nitrogenados (Fafen, Paraná), and the schist unit in Paraná (SIX), FUP reported.
Workers did not show up for the graveyard shift at terminals in Suape (Pernambuco) and Paranaguá (Paraná), FUP went on to state, adding that workers also staged stoppages at several oil rigs on Campos bay.
Demands
The movement is said to come as a response to fuel pricing policies and the administration of Petrobras, and against liquefied petroleum gas and fuel prices.
The stoppage comes three days after President Michel Temer and his team struck a deal with truck drivers. For over a week, truckers have brought the country to a halt, causing gas stations and supermarkets to run out of stocks, and bringing about major damage to the economy.
