Tereza Cristina, Brazil’s minister for Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply is expected next Wednesday (Apr. 10) to meet with 51 Arab ambassadors to confirm the Brazilian government’s intention to bolster commercial ties. The meeting was announced after a business office was unveiled during President Bolsonaro’s visit to Israel.

The meeting, organized by the Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil (CNA) in their own headquarters, was a request from the Arab diplomats.

“It will be a frank talk. This dinner had been scheduled before President Jair Bolsonaro announced his trip to Israel,” Tereza Cristina said. “Brazil’s agricultural industry wants to constantly increase its production and needs this understanding with all countries.”

Tereza Cristina noted that the government intends to forge cooperative ties with Arab countries. “As far as agriculture is concerned, we’re together to bolster this partnership,” he stated.

The minister will appoint specialized advisers to join her in the talks. The goal, she said, is to negotiate with diplomatic and commercial representatives from these countries. “I have seen some ambassadors individually. Brazil has extensive agendas with these countries, and vice-versa. We can schedule individual meetings after the assembly,” she added.

President Jair Bolsonaro on Wednesday (3), before taking off from Israel to Brazil, reiterated he intends to visit the Middle East later this year.
