The Trade Confidence Index (Icom), measured by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), dropped 6.2 points from October to November this year. As a result, the indicator reached 88 points, on a scale from zero to 200, the lowest level since April this year (84.1 points).

The confidence of Brazilian commerce entrepreneurs dropped in relation to both the present and the future. The Current Situation Index, which measures assessments of the current situation, dropped 7 points to 88.3 points.

The Expectations Index, which measures business confidence in the future, dropped 5.1 points and reached 93.3 points.

"The scenario for the coming months is not very encouraging, given that consumer confidence is still very low, inflation is still high, interest rates are rising and the job market is still gradually reacting," said FGV researcher Rodolpho Tobler .
