Tourism in the capital of São Paulo increased by 10.1% in October, compared to September, according to the Monthly Tourism Activity Index calculated by the Federation of Commerce, Goods, Services and Tourism of the State of São Paulo (FecomercioSP). Compared to the same period in 2020, there was growth of 43.5%.

Since April, the accumulated expansion was 90% compared to the beginning of the year. In October, all the variables analyzed by the index increased, with emphasis on the hotel occupancy rate, which stood at 58.9%, compared to 50.4% in September. The movement of passengers at airports grew 14% compared to the previous month. In bus stations, this increase was 10.8% compared to September.

Jobs generate 400,000 vacancies

Revenue grew 6%, reaching almost R$490 million. Employment, in turn, grew by 3.9%, surpassing the level of 400 thousand vacancies.

For FecomercioSP, despite the favorable moment, the 2022 scenario should be different. "The economic variables are under pressure, inflation remains high, unemployment still affects 13 million people and the rising interest rate should slow down the economy even more", indicated the organization.
