Brazil’s Central Bank declared it has contingency plans to keep essential services running during the strike of the bank’s civil servants, which begins next Friday (Apr. 1).
In a Tuesday (Mar. 29) note, the bank pledged to maintain market transactions and platforms such as its instant payment system Pix, the Reserve Transfer System (STR), and the Special Clearance and Escrow System (Selic).
Also in the statement, the bank said it recognizes employees’ right to stage demonstrations, adding it trusts its servants’ dedication, skill, and responsibility, as well as their commitment to the institution and to society.
The Central Bank employees on Monday (28) approved a strike for an undefined period of time starting on April 1. They are asking to be also benefited by the increases approved for federal police agents in the 2022 Budget.
Since March 17, employees had been organizing stoppages from 2 to 6 pm. Since early this year, the staff had been working under a merely standard operation scheme, with teams conducting activities more slowly and delaying the release of indicators.
