Brazil creates 136 thousand formal jobs in March
Brazil closed out March 2022 having created 136.189 formal jobs, according to a report from the New General Register of Employed and Unemployed Persons (Novo CAGED), unveiled on Thursday (April 28) by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. The number is lower than the 153,431 new jobs created in March last year.
"This is the third consecutive month that we have seen growth in the creation of new Jobs," minister José Carlos Oliveira said. "It allows us to dream of a cumulative number at the end of 2022 that is higher than what we had planned, which was about a million new jobs," he added.
The data show that a positive balance in the level of employment in March was registered in four of the five groups of economic activities. Most of the 111,513 new jobs were generated in the service sector, distributed mainly in information, communication and financial, real estate, professional and administrative activities.
Civil construction was the second sector to generate more jobs in March, with a positive balance of 25,059 jobs, followed by industry (15,260 new jobs) and trade (352). Agriculture, livestock, forestry, fishing and aquaculture had a negative balance of job creation, with 15,995 more layoffs than admissions.
The average admission salary in March 2022 was BRL 1,872.07 ($ 373 dollars). The value is 2.03 percent lower than that recorded in February, Novo CAGED reported.
