Inflation shall enter a downward trajectory after May
Several countries are facing economic crises with rising inflation, and according to the advisor for Strategic Affairs at the Economy Ministry Adolfo Sachsida, the phenomenon has also affected Brazil, which ended the year with official inflation of 10.06 percent, well above the target that could range up to 5.25 percent. He stated, however, that inflation is currently at its peak, which shall last until the end of May. After this period, it is supposed to enter a convergent path towards the targets.
The US inflation has reached its highest rate in the last 40 years; the German its highest in the last 30 years, and England has been facing the worst inflation crisis in the last 10 years, Sachsida said on Sunday (April 24) in an interview with the program Brasil em Pauta on TV Brasil.
The advisor to the Ministry of Economy also commented on the growth of the Brazilian Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which stood at 4.6 percent last year, surpassing those of countries such as South Korea, Germany, and Japan. According to him, “it was a great victory for the Brazilian economic policy”.
Adolfo Sachsida also spoke about the resumption of job creation. Last year, 2.7 million jobs were created. According to him, Brazilians are getting back to work. “We are talking about the biggest public health disaster in the last 100 years. In such an environment, unemployment worldwide has increased,” he said. In Brazil unemployment has already returned to pre-pandemic levels, he added. "All of this because we have taken the right economic measures to preserve Jobs," he noted. Sachsida has also mentioned the creation of special credit lines and the Emergency Benefit for Employment and Income Maintenance, a governmental support for companies to avoid dismissing workers.
