New CEO of Brazil state lender Caixa appointed
Daniella Marques Consentino, special secretary for Productivity and Competitiveness at Brazil’s Ministry of Economy, has been appointed as the new CEO of Brazil’s state-owned bank Caixa Econômica Federal. She comes to replace Pedro Guimarães, who made his resignation official yesterday.
In a letter to President Jair Bolsonaro, Guimarães refuted the accusations of sexual harassment made by female employees of the institution and claimed to be innocent.
Caixa made a statement on the harassment allegations last night (Jun 29). In it, the bank “repudiates any kind of harassment,” adding an inquiry is in place.
“The investigation is being conducted confidentially by the Internal Affairs Division, which is why other bank departments were not aware of it,” the note reads.
The probe is reported to have been initiated in May, with steps to bring evidence and materials under scrutiny. The institution said the entire investigation is conducted by an external body, which “ensures transparency, security, and protection for whistle-blowers.”
The note also states that “any new information will be immediately included in the proceedings.”
