Brazil´s National Broad Consumer Price Index (IPCA), which gauges the country´s official inflation, stood at 0.67 percent in June this year. The rate is higher than the 0.47 percent in May, and the 0.53 percent in June 2021. The figures were released by Brazil`s oficial statistics agency IBGE.
The IPCA is up 5.49 percent year-to-date. For the twelve-month period, the rate is up 11.89 percent, therefore above May´s 11.73 percent.
All nine groups of expenses registered inflation in June, especially food and beverages, with a price increase of 0.80 percent. Among the items with the highest increase are meals (0.95%) and snacks (2.21%) eaten away from home.
“Like other services that had restrained demand during the pandemic, a demand resumption of meals eaten away from home has been registered, what reflected in their prices,” said research manager Pedro Kislanov.
