The number of international air arrivals to Brazil in August 2022 was the highest since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Landings totaled 4,003, i.e. 80.71 percent of the capacity of the country’s international air network in 2019.

Brazil’s international tourism body Embratur expects the full recovery of the nation’s connectivity still this year. To meet this goal, the authority has met with airlines, and 134 new flights and additional time slots should be unveiled by February 2023.

Routes

Among the novelties are routes and flights linking the world to the Brazilian Northeast. In October, Aerolíneas Argentinas should increase Buenos Aires–Salvador flights by two time slots. In November, Tap estimates the return of two slots for Lisbon–Salvador flights. In the same month, Gol is expected to resume its Buenos Aires–Natal flight.

Air Europa plans to put into operation two new flights and an additional slot to the Madrid–Salvador route in December. Also in December, Gol should introduce new flights: Miami–Fortaleza, Buenos Aires–Recife, Buenos Aires–Maceió, and Buenos Aires–Salvador.

As it stands today, the continents with the most connectivity with Brazil are Latin America, with 2,068 monthly flights; Europe, with 1,045 flights; and North America, with 762.

Per Embratur, connectivity with the US and Canada in August increased 28.36 percent from July.
