The Brazilian international air network reached 98.32 percent capacity in October compared to the same period in 2019. 4,690 flights were reported. This is the highest volume of air travel after the period of border closures and other restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new amount of monthly landings in Brazil represents an increase of 10.42 percent compared to September, and 17.93 percent compared to October 2021. The perspective of the country's tourism promotion agency is to increase the number of international flights, Brazilian Tourism Institute Embratur informed.

According to the agency, from January to October 2022 alone, 87 new flights went into operation and another 111 frequencies were added to the list (additional flights on an existing route). By July 2023, the network is expected to increase with 78 new flights and 82 additional frequencies.

Highlighted countries

Argentina, historically where the largest number of tourists come from, was one of the countries that pulled connectivity up. For the first time since 2019, it surpassed 1,000 flights in the same month, with 1,049 landings in the country. The flights departed from Buenos Aires (979), Cordoba (22), Mendoza (31), Bariloche (4), and Salta (13).

Another highlight of the Brazilian international air network in October was Portugal. The European country surpassed the United States and was in second place in the ranking of arrivals to Brazil, with 642 flights leaving from two cities: Lisbon (593) and Porto (49). The USA, on the other hand, sent 624 flights to Brazil, departing from nine different cities.
