Brazil’s inflation, as gauged by the national price index IPCA, rose 0.59 percent in October, after a shrinkage in prices of 0.68 percent in July, 0.36 percent in August, and 0.29 percent in September. The rate closed out October last year at 1.25 percent.
The result brings the rate to 4.70 percent year to date and 6.47 percent in 12 months, official statistics agency IBGE reported today.
The greatest impacts on the index came from the food and beverages, up 0.72 percent, and transportation, 0.58 percent more expensive in the period surveyed. Only communications dropped 0.48 percent, driven by mobile plans (-2.05%).
The IPCA reflects inflation for families with an income of one to 40 minimum wages.
