Brazil’s industrial production down 0.1% in November

The output was lower in 11 of the 26 activities

Brazil’s industrial production sank 0.1 percent in November from October. The drop follows a 0.3 percent climb in October, per a monthly survey released today (Jan. 5) by statistics agency IBGE.

The output also showed negative results in the quarterly moving average (-0.2%) January–November (-0.6%) and in 12 months (-1%). Compared to November 2021, however, the performance was up 0.9 percent.

From October to November, 11 of the 26 industrial activities surveyed shrank. The main negative figures came from computer, electronic, and optical products (-6.5%), textiles (-5.4%), and clothing and accessories (-3.8%).

Among the 15 activities with a higher production were beverages (10.3%), automotive vehicles, trailers, and trucks (4.4%), and food products (3.2%).
