Tourism in São Paulo city has resumed to the pre-pandemic level for the first time since January 2020, when it registered a growth of 10.7 percent in November 2022, compared to the previous month and reached the index number 100, the score it stood at in the first month of 2020.

Economic advisor of the Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism of São Paulo state (FecomercioSP) Guilherme Dietze said there is a positive and favorable expectation for 2023 in the corporate and leisure sectors: "For 2023, the events sector, the corporate sector, and also the leisure sector will be very active throughout this year.

There is an expectation for changes in the leisure sector, since the city has been receiving more and more leisure tourists, who come to the capital to enjoy cultural and gastronomic routes. "What we have noticed over the past few years is that São Paulo has become a destination not only for business tourism. People are traveling to the city even in December, January, during July vacation, periods that were weaker for leisure tourism in the capital, but now more tourists are coming to enjoy the local gastronomy, culture, leisure, recreation, in short, what the city has potential for," Dietze said.

FecomercioSP Tourism Council head Mariana Aldrigui explained November was an excellent month for the city, especially when considering the combination of holidays, Formula One, and the flow of people shopping for both Black Friday and Christmas.
