Brazilian spending on international travel rises 80.5% in January
The expenses of Brazilians abroad stood at $ 1.246 billion dollars in January this year, Brazil’s Central Bank reported today (Feb. 24). The result is 80.5 percent higher than the one registered in the same period last year, when Brazilians spent US$ 690 million.
Incomes from foreigners in Brazil totaled $ 604 million dollars in the same month, an increase of 43.3 percent compared to January 2022.
According to the Central Bank, both the spending of Brazilians abroad and the foreigners' income in Brazil are on the way to reaching levels before the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the increase in Brazilian spending abroad, the negative balance of the international travel account rose from $ 269 million dollars in January 2022 to $ 642 million dollars last month.
