Brazil registers over 244 thousand formal jobs in March
Brazil closed out March with a positive balance of 244,315 formal jobs. Year to date, the balance was positive at 719,033 jobs, up 34 percent from the first three months last year.
The data were released Tuesday (Apr. 30) by the Ministry of Labor and Employment. This was the best result for March since 2020, said Minister Luiz Marinho.

The total amount of active formal jobs in Brazil reached 46,236,308 in March this year, up 0.53 percent from the previous month.
The biggest growth in formal employment last month came under services, with 148,722 openings created. In commerce, 37,493 posts were created; in industry, 35,886, chiefly in the manufacturing industry; in construction, the amount was 28,666.
The only major group with a negative result was agriculture, with 6,457 fewer jobs, due to seasonal factors.
Most of the jobs created in March were filled by women (124,483). Men filled 119,832. The age group with the highest balance was 18–24 year-olds, with 138,901 openings.
