President Jair Bolsonaro signed a law that provides for comprehensive monitoring for students with dyslexia or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or other learning disorder.

The new law, published today (1st) in the Official Gazette of the Union , establishes that the Government must develop and maintain a comprehensive monitoring program for students with learning disabilities.

Thus, according to the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, public and private basic education schools, with the support of the family and existing health services, are responsible for providing care and protection to students who, by presenting changes in the development of reading and writing or instability of attention, they can count on support and guidance from the area of health, social assistance and other public policies existing in the territory.

The law also establishes that the specific needs in the development of the student will be met by professionals from the teaching network in partnership with professionals from the health network, and therapeutic intervention must be carried out, when necessary, with goals for monitoring by a multidisciplinary team composed of professionals who are necessary to perform this approach.-
