The champion of the 2021 season of the National Futsal League (LNF) begins to be known this Sunday (12). From 11:00 am (Brasilia time), Magnus and Cascavel face off at Arena Sorocaba, in the interior of São Paulo, in the first leg of the confrontation. TV Brasil broadcasts the match live.

The duel pits the two best overall campaigns in the competition. Defending champion and in pursuit of the third title, the second in a row, Magnus qualified for the fifth LNF final in eight years of existence with ten wins, five draws, three defeats and a technical index (average of points per game) of 1, 95. Cascavel, which reaches the decision for the first time, achieved 13 triumphs, with four draws, three setbacks and 2.15 in the technical index.

The people from Paraná have the command of the game back, next Sunday (17), again at 11 am, at Neva gymnasium, in Cascavel (PR), also broadcast live by TV Brasil . If each team wins a game or matches end in a draw, Serpent Tricolor has the advantage of a draw in overtime, for the best performance of the season.

Both reach the final packed with state titles. On Friday of last week (4), Magnus overcame Corinthians by 6-1 at Arena Sorocaba and won the Campeonato Paulista for the fourth time, the second in a row. Last Wednesday (8), in turn, Cascavel made 3-2 at Campo Mourão and lifted the seventh trophy for the Paraná Championship in history, also repeating the feat achieved in 2020.

It will be the second game between Magnus and Cascavel in 2021. On July 30th, they faced each other in the semifinals of the Taça Brasil, in Dourados (MS). The Paulistas won 4-1 and qualified by decision, where they were champions defeating Joinville. Last year, the clash was for the LNF quarterfinals and again Cachorrão got the better of it. After tying 3-3 at Paraná, the team from Sorocaba (SP) won at home by 6-2 and advanced towards the title.

generation mix

Amidst the experience of names such as goalkeeper Djony, winger Danilo Baron (both 36 years old), pivot Sinoê and fixed and captain Rodrigo (both 37 years old), a new generation has been asking for passage at Magnus since last season. This is the case of pivot Alisson, 22, who was revealed alongside players such as Lucas Gomes and wingers Pedrinho, Ricardinho and Leozinho, all between 22 and 23 years old. The latter was even summoned to defend Brazil at this year's World Cup. The young quintet is responsible for 35% of the goals of the São Paulo team in this LNF.

“When I came here, at the base, Leozinho was already there. We had a very good 2018, we were champions of everything and undefeated. He is a year older than me and went up first. The next year, I, Zóio [Lucas Gomes], Ricardinho and Pedrinho went up. And the five of us are here, until today”, Alisson told Agência Brasil .

“The base is essential because it's easier to look for [reinforcements] in your backyard than outside. The player already knows the system. We spent a year [from base] training with the adult. When we went upstairs for good, we were already prepared. Keeping the athletes who moved up for this season was important for our team”, completed the pivot, present in 18 games in this edition of the LNF, with three goals scored.

Alisson is not wrong as Magnus is chasing the fourth trophy this season alone. In addition to Paulista and Taça Brasil, Cachorrão won the Super Cup in Brazil. The trajectory in this year's National League, however, was more difficult than in 2020, when the team was undefeated champion.

“Last year, we were new. Few people knew our team and we grew. There came a time when we were very advanced. This year, they studied our team better. There was a defeat by Santo André [Intelli, 7-1] in the first phase, which was a reality check”, recalled Alisson.

“Since I came up from the base, it's the first time we're going to decide a knockout away. We have to play a good game at home to come out ahead and have peace of mind to take the match back well. And if there is an extension, we have to be prepared”, concluded the shirt 33 of Magnus.

dream season

Cascavel's historic campaign in the LNF necessarily passes through Roni's feet. The number 7 shirt scored 17 times in 19 rounds and shares the artillery of the competition with also pivot Dieguinho, from Joinville. He himself lives a special year. In the three previous seasons he has been present, the 29-year-old has scored nine goals in 51 games.

“I'm reaping the rewards of everything I've been working on. Not that I've had bad seasons, but this year I managed to stand out with my team, thanks also to my teammates, who help me daily. Certainly, I believe that this is the moment when I am closer to being called up [for the Brazilian team], because when you are on the national scene, you are more seen and have more opportunities”, celebrated Roni in a statement to Agência Brasil .

The dream season sends the pivot to the memories of when he started in the sport, kicking ball barefoot on the court in the neighborhood where he grew up, until being invited to work at the Clube Atlético Entre Rios (Caer) school in Três Rios (RJ), city in which was born. Before becoming a professional, he still played for the city's adult team, futsal in Juiz de Fora (MG) and at Vasco's base.

“One of the memories is of my father seeing me play at Caer's school and being very proud. There was a competition I played for Caer in which, the day before the trip, my father died. I didn't want to go, but my mother was very strong. I thank you so much. We used to do raffles to pay for the bus ticket. We were runners-up in that tournament and, with each achievement I have in my career, I remember these moments”, said the player.

Roni has been part of Cascavel since 2019, when the team was well reformulated compared to the previous year. At the time, Serpente had a great first phase, finishing in fifth place, but fell in the round of 16 to Jaraguá (12th) and finished the competition in ninth. Last season, Paraná ranked seventh in the overall standings, after falling in the quarterfinals to Magnus.

“Casiano's work [Klein, coach] is medium to long term. In 2019, I think 95% of the cast was all new. It was the beginning of the process. In 2020 it was a little better, the base already knew Cassiano's game. So, I think the permanence [of the group] was fundamental. We were hoping for [this year's campaign]. We struggled a lot, since January, to be at the top and get the victories. And the home factor [in the return duel] will be extremely important, especially with the return of the fans", concluded the pivot.
