The Brazilian squad ended a surprisingly outstanding campaign by winning second place in the women’s volleyball Nations League, with a number of young stars on the team. But Italy gave the Latin Americans no chance and bagged their first title by winning the final against José Roberto Guimarães’s team by three sets to zero (25–23, 25–22, 25–22), in Ankara, Turkey.
The defeat in the final was only the third of the Brazilian team in the whole campaign (curiously enough, one of the other two was against Italy, in the first round). The second place is the third consecutive of its kind for the country in the Nations League—the competition that replaced the old Grand Prix in 2018, in which Brazil were the biggest winners, boasting 12 victories.
