Semifinals in Brazil women’s soccer championship start this weekend
The quest for a spot in the final of the Brazilian women’s soccer championship—known as Brasileirão Feminino—kicks off this Saturday (Aug 27) with Corinthians vs Palmeiras in Itaquera, São Paulo, at 2 pm Brasília time. The next day, at 11 am, Internacional is expected to clash against São Paulo at the Beira-Rio stadium, in Porto Alegre city.
The return matches—which define who will fight for the title of the Brasileirão this year—should take place at the home fields of Palmeiras and São Paulo on September 10 and 12 respectively.
The dates, times, and locations of the clashes were unveiled Tuesday (23). The final (return match included) is slated to be held on September 18 and 25.
Three-time champion Corinthians advanced to the semifinals with a 1–0 victory over Real Brasília. Palmeiras qualified with two wins over Grêmio, 5–0 and 2–1.
Last Monday (22), Internacional, vying for the unprecedented title, qualified for the semis by eliminating Flamengo with an aggregate score of 4–2. São Paulo moved forward after dispatching Ferroviária 2–0.
