Alison dos Santos: undefeated champion of 2022 Diamond League
Current world champion in the 400-meter hurdles, Brazilian Alison dos Santos made history again by winning, undefeated, the 2022 season title of the Diamond League, the main circuit of athletics events in the world. On Thursday (Sep. 8) he won the last stage, held in Zurich (Switzerland), crossing the finish line in 46s98, leaving behind Americans Khaliffah Rosser (47s76) and CJ Allen (48s21).
The 22-year-old athlete from São Joaquim da Barra, São Paulo state, became the country's first Diamond League track champion. He now joins compatriot Fabiana Murer, a former pole vaulter, who had won the title twice (2010 and 2014) in the competition.
2002 was really a special year for Alison. In July he reached the top of the Word Athletics (International Association of Athletics) ranking after winning the World Championship in Eugene (USA) in 46s29, his shortest time this year.
