On Sunday night (Oct 23), Palmeiras scored a goal during the overtime minutes and defeated Santiago Morning (Chile) by 2-1, at the Casa Blanca stadium in Quito (Ecuador), qualifying for the semifinals of the Women's Libertadores Cup.

After a scoreless first half, the Chilean team opened the scoring in the 26th minute of the second half with Acuña. Ten minutes later, Katrine tied by grabbing a rebound and hitting a bomb from inside the penalty box. The match seemed to move towards a penalty shootout, but in the 50th minute, Day Silva scored the goal that guaranteed Palmeiras' classification.

The Brazilians will be back on the field next Wednesday (26) to play against America de Cali (Colombia).

Elimination

On Saturday (22), two Brazilian teams lost their respective matches in the quarterfinals and were eliminated from the competition: Corinthians and Ferroviária.

In the first match of the day, Corinthians was defeated by Boca Juniors (Argentina) by 2 to 1 at Casa Blanca. Later on, Ferroviária was beaten by Deportivo Cali (Colombia), by 2-1.

Thus, Brazil continues to have only one representative in the competition, namely Palmeiras.
