The confirmation of a much-modified team for Friday's match (Nov. 2), against Cameroon, opened the season of questions about the dispute for places in the starting lineup. And the positions that most generate doubts among fans and the press are the sidelines.

With Danilo and Alex Sandro injured and the Brazilian team already qualified, Daniel Alves and Alex Telles will have the opportunity to play among the starters. For left-back Alex Telles, the dispute is positive. "The companionship, the clarity among the athletes, and the healthy competition makes the group grow, and the one which most benefits from this situation is Brazil," Telles explains.

He replaced Alex Sandro at the end of the game against Switzerland and did very well. For the right side, however, Tite decided to choose Éder Militão, even though he had Daniel Alves as an option. The 39-year-old's call-up was widely criticized, but on Friday, the experienced full-back will have the opportunity to show he can still do his job.

Alex Telles defended his teammate. "We see on a daily basis that he is totally focused, concentrated, and positive. He is the guy who has more titles in the world in this sport. No comments needed, he has a very strong personality, and it's no wonder he is in another World Cup," he said.

Daniel Alves has not played an official match since September 24, for Pumas, Mexico. He will be the captain of the Brazilian team for the 125th time and the oldest player to play in a World Cup match for Brazil.
