The Brazilian delegation finished the Para Swimming World Series in Lignano, Italy, atop the medals table after winning two more golds Sunday (Mar. 12). This brings Brazil to the end of the competition with 13 podium positions—nine golds, four silvers.

The nation’s first gold on Sunday was secured by Gabriel Araújo in the 50-meter backstroke S2 (severe motor impairment). He completed the race in 54s82, bringing his participation in the competition to a close with five first-place finishes, as well as breaking the world record in the 50m butterfly and the Americas’ record in the 50m freestyle.

The other Brazilian victory came with Gabriel Bandeira in the 100m butterfly race under S14 class (intellectual disabilities).

Now, the Brazilian para swimming team will fly to England, where they should compete as part of the Sheffield stage from March 16–19.
