Brazilian gymnast Bárbara Domingos secures spot at Paris Games
Brazilian gymnast Bárbara Domingos has clinched her spot in the rhythmic gymnastics individual all-around competition at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France. She qualified during the ongoing World Championships in rhythmic gymnastics in Valencia, Spain, on Thursday (Aug. 24).
The 23-year-old athlete secured her place by finishing 14th in the overall individual qualifying round. The final is scheduled for this Saturday (26).
“Getting a place at the World Championships is tremendously significant for me. This has always been my goal. Ever since I hit the crossbar and failed to qualify for Tokyo, I've set myself that goal. I had to have a lot of resilience in this cycle. At the end of 2021, I had to undergo hip surgery, which tested my determination. After I recovered, I set in my mind that at the 2023 World Championships, I was going to secure my spot for Paris." What I feel today is a sense of fulfillment. That says it all," expressed the Brazilian gymnast.
