Libertadores: Palmeiras defeat Atlético Nacional, qualify for final
Palmeiras, representing Brazil, defeated Atlético Nacional from Colombia with a score of 3-1 on Tuesday night (Oct. 17) at the Metropolitano de Techo stadium in Bogotá, Colombia, earning them a spot in the final of the women's Copa Libertadores.
Palmeiras are the reigning champions of the women's Libertadores, having won the last edition 4-1 in the final against Boca Juniors from Argentina. The final match will be contested against another Brazilian team, either Corinthians or Internacional, who will face off at 9:30 pm (Brasília time) next Wednesday (18) at the Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero in Cali, Colombia.
Amanda Gutierres was the star of Tuesday's victory, scoring twice for Palmeiras. Bia Zaneratto sealed the deal with a penalty goal. Full-back Montoya scored Atlético Nacional's sole goal.
The final of the women's Libertadores is scheduled for next Saturday (21).
