Skateboarding: Brazil claims victory in 3 international circuit races

The first round of the 2025 STP Pro Tour, the international skateboarding circuit, was a resounding success for Brazilian skaters. The event, which concluded on Sunday (Mar. 23) in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul state, saw home-grown athletes standing atop the podium in all four events. In three of these, Brazilian skaters claimed victory: Rayssa Leal triumphed in the women’s street competition, Giovanni Vianna took the top spot in the men’s event, and Gui Khury emerged as the champion in skate park, scoring an impressive 91, despite being the youngest competitor at just 16.
Two-time Olympic medalist Rayssa Leal, the event’s main attraction, lived up to expectations. Despite a few falls in the qualifiers, she delivered her best performance in the final, clinching the street skateboarding title with a score of 81.57. Leal was joined on the podium by fellow Brazilian Maria Lúcia, who took third place with a score of 51.24. In second place was Spain’s Daniela Terol, who earned a score of 64.37.
In the men’s street competition, Brazil secured a double podium, with Giovanni Vianna taking the title with a score of 88.80 and Carlos Ribeiro finishing as the runner-up with 85.97.
The women’s skate park final was the only event that did not see Brazil in first place, but the country was still represented on the podium. Yndi Asp claimed second place with a score of 85.00, behind Spain’s Naia Laso, who finished first with a score of 90.67.
Capping off the day on a high note for Brazil, Gui Khury secured the championship in the men’s skate park event.
