Pelé recovers and posts Facebook video with family
Former star footballer Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known as Pelé, is showing steady improvement in his clinical condition. On Saturday (Dec. 6), he was transferred from the high dependency unit (“semi-intensive” care) to a room in the main ward at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein. According to doctors, he is in good condition with no more signs of infection and no fever, and is still under antibiotic therapy.
Pelé posted a video to his Facebook page showing him with his family playing the guitar, telling fans (both in English and Portuguese) he is well, and thanking all prayers for his recovery.
Pelé was hospitalized on November 12 after feeling sick. Tests found the problem was caused by kidney, bladder, and urethra stones which were obstructing the urinary flow. The following day he had a surgery to remove the stones. On November 24, he was admitted to hospital again for a health check, and a urinary tract infection was detected.
