Firefighters succeeded in putting out on Thursday (Apr 9) the fire in the last fuel tank in the city of Santos, in São Paulo state. The cooling operation goes on, since fuel leaks may cause the flames to return. The fire had started nine days ago.
Commander Marco Aurélio Alvez Pinto, from the Fire Department, was on a helicopter hovering the area and confirmed that the fire had been brought under control. The operation focuses now on the cooling operation and the sealing of the leaks on the pipes.
