Brazil's Federal Revenue (IRS) seized this Wednesday (Aug. 31) nearly 1.5 ton of cocaine at the Port of Santos. This is the biggest seizure made in the last five years. According to the Federal Revenue, the drug was hidden in three containers loaded with wooden floors and paper reels. The cargo's final destination was the port of Antwerp, in Belgium.
The cocaine was found during a joint routine operation carried out by the Federal Revenue and the Federal Police, monitoring export cargo, analyzing images, and applying risk assessment criteria.
They suspect that the criminals used a method called rip-off, in which they shift the container's regular load to drugs, without the owner's knowledge.
