Eight suspects arrested in Brazil after Paraguay robbery
Eight people have been arrested in the Brazilian state of Paraná in connection with a robbery yesterday (April 24) at Prosegur cash-in-transit company in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay. According to information released Tuesday (25) by the Federal Police, the searches around Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná, led to seizures of six rifles, ammunition, two boats, and seven vehicles.
On Monday, a group of about 50 people broke into the company's local headquarters in the triple border, a region that links Paraguay (Ciudad del Este), Brazil (Foz do Iguaçu) and Argentina (Puerto Iguazú) to steal about $40 million from a safe using explosives and anti-aircraft rifles.
Brazil's Federal Police have also confirmed three suspects died on their escape route to Paraná, in clashes with Brazil's Federal Police and Federal Highway Police.
