Warao Indigenous people from Venezuela who are in Manaus, Amazonas state, in Northern Brazil, will be provided lodging by the end of this week, according to information from the Amazonas chapter of the Federal Prosecution Service, confirmed by the State Secretariat of Justice, Human Rights, and Citizenship.

The lodging, which will be able to accommodate 300 people, is under construction work. Furniture and appliances will also be provided. The shelter was recommended by the prosecutors to government agencies to ensure humanitarian assistance to immigrants.

Because of the economic crisis in Venezuela, which borders Brazil's North Region, more than 500 Warao people came to Manaus. Most of them are camped in poor conditions at the city bus station and under an overpass. During the day, women and children go begging at traffic lights and around the city center.
