Brazil to start practice for Russia World Cup
The Brazilian players called to take part in the 2018 World Cup in Russia started arriving at their special Practice Center in Teresópolis, outside the city of Rio de Janeiro, today (May 21).
Seventeen of the 23 athletes making up the Brazilian squad are expected to attend this Monday, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) reported.
“By 2 pm, 16 players will have arrived: Marquinhos, Fred, Filipe Luís, Danilo, Paulinho, Gabriel Jesus, Ederson, Fágner, Neymar, Thiago Silva, Renato Augusto, Douglas Costa, Taison, Fernandinho, Willian, and Geromel.” Cássio, goalkeeper from Corinthians, is expected to come in the evening.
Alisson, Philippe Coutinho, and Miranda will come to the Granja Comary football complex on Tuesday (22). The seleção, however, is only to have all of its members gathered in England, when Marcelo and Casemiro, of the Real Madrid, and Roberto Firmino, of Liverpool, are to arrive, after the Champions League is over, on May 26.
Coach Tite and his staff have been in Granja Comary since Sunday (20). Activities today and tomorrow will focus on physical and medical tests, CBF reported. No practice sessions will be held.
On May 27, all will be headed for England, where the team will prepare at the Tottenham Football Practice Center. Two friendlies have been slated before their fight to Russia. On June 3 Brazil is scheduled to face Croatia, in Liverpool, and Austria in June 10, in Viena.
Brazil will fight Switzerland in its opener at 3 pm on June 17, in Rostov-on-Don. The second match in the first stage will be on Friday, June 22, at 9 am, in St. Petersburg, against Costa Rica. The third game is slated for Wednesday, June 27, at 3 pm, at Spartak stadium, in Moskow.
