Festival Aprendiz Musical brings Christmas carols to CCBB Rio
The Banco do Brasil Rio de Janeiro Cultural Center (CCBB-RJ) continues today (12) with the first edition of the Festival Aprendiz Musical, which started yesterday (11), with performances for the public of orchestras and choirs in concerts of classical music and songs Christmas. The event has free admission and brings together young musicians from six sociocultural musical education projects in Rio, which occupy the ground floor of the Rio cultural center. The project is sponsored by Banco do Brasil.
The Festival's program is divided between performances by choirs, lasting 30 minutes, and orchestras, which last an hour. The groups that make up this first edition are Orquestra Jovem de Niterói (OJN), with special participation by musician Sérgio Chiavazzoli; Apprentice Choir, which are part of the Musical Apprentice Program; Tide of Tomorrow Orchestra; Grota Orchestra; Youth Academy of the Petrobras Symphonic Orchestra (AJOPES); Rio de Janeiro Youth Laboratory Choir; Colored Coral; and Children's Choir of UFRJ.
As informed by the event's press office, the selected groups are long-time partners of the Musical Apprentice Program. The goal for the coming years is to invite projects from other regions and even from other states. The repertoires include works by Villa Lobos, Pixinguinha, Bach, Vivaldi, John Williams, Milton Nascimento, Freddie Mercury and other musicians. The Orquestra Jovem de Niterói is the main group derived from the continuous work of training in music developed by the Program with children and young people in the city of Niterói, in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro. Founded in 2007, the group has about 45 instrumentalists aged between 14 and 23 who already have advanced technical level.
The Petrobras Symphonic Orchestra's Youth Academy offers preparation for admission to a higher education course in Music and consequent professional insertion for a group of young people aged 14 to 20 years. Lasting two years, individual classes are offered by musicians from the Petrobras Symphonic Orchestra and collectives on musical theory and perception and orchestral practice.
Winner of the 2019 Professionals of Music Award, in the Best Orchestra category, the Maré do Amanhã Orchestra was created by Carlos Eduardo Prazeres in August 2010 with the objective of teaching and training children and young people from Complexo de Favelas da Maré in learning classical music.
