Government appoints new Petrobras president
Adriano Pires de Andrade is to replace Joaquim Silva e Luna

Economist Adriano Pires de Andrade was appointed by the Brazilian government to replace Joaquim Silva e Luna as president of Petrobras.
In a Monday statement (Mar. 28), the company said it received a letter from the country’s Ministry of Mines and Energy and should deliberate on the nomination of Adriano Pires de Andrade for the presidency of the company in the next general meeting, on April 13.
With a degree in economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), a master’s degree in energy planning, and a PhD in industrial economics from the University of Paris XIII, Adriano Pires de Andrade was superintendent for supply and superintendent for oil imports and exports for Brazil’s National Petroleum Agency.
