Brazil police fight crime against children, adolescents
In one month, operation Acalento registered 18 thousand calls

Operation Acalento, a crackdown on violence against children and adolescents, registered 18,542 calls over the course of a month, from June 13 to July 13. The initiative was launched by civil police bodies across the country, Brazil’s Ministry of Justice and Public Security stated.
A total of 2.7 thousand protective measures were requested and 1,588 aggressors arrested, in addition to 313 search and seizure warrants served. “Police actions focused on investigations of physical violence, sexual violence, exploitation, grooming, abuse, and homicides involving children and adolescents,” the ministry declared. The preventive measures include 1,121 lectures and educational campaigns.
