Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement Saturday (Mar. 26) “strongly” condemning a suicide bombing attack in a football stadium in Al-Iskandariya (Iraq's Alexandria), 70 kilometers south of Baghdad.

The Foreign Ministry called the attack an act of “cowardice” that has turned out to be “all the more tragic because it targeted innocent civilians during a football match, in the presence of a large number of minors.”

Islamic State claimed responsibility for the blast that left at least 25 dead and dozens wounded.

A terrorist wearing a suicide belt entered the stadium and set off the explosives in the middle of fans at the end of an amateur match between local teams, in the early evening of Friday (25).
