Spanish Prime Minister to visit Brazil in April
Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy is to go on an official visit to Brazil on April 24 and 25, according to an announcement made today (Mar. 10) by Alexandre Parola, spokesman to President Michel Temer. In addition to such topics as trade, investment, cooperation for science, technology, and innovation, the two presidents are to negotiate deals involving MERCOSUR and the European Union.
“As a followup to the meeting held last September near the G20, in China, the heads of state will also tackle the challenges in the internationals landscape. As President has said, Brazil's answer to a world of isolating uncertainties and tendencies will always be more dialog, more integration,” Parola said.
Rajoy will also fly to São Paulo, where he is expected to attend meetings with entrepreneurs, politicians, as well as scholars from both Brazil and Spain. According to official information from Brazil's presidential palace, trade between the two countries totaled over $5 billion. “Spain is among Brazil's biggest individual investors. Among the emerging countries, Brazil is one of Spain's chief investors,” he added.
