Brazil, Kazakhstan join efforts to promote both cultures

Brazil and Kazakhstan have signed a memorandum of cooperation to exchange news stories, photos, videos and critical content produced by Brazil Communication Company (EBC)—through its online news agency Agência Brasil—and Kazinform, in English, regarding events of interest to the two countries both domestically and internationally.
The document was inked Thursday (Mar. 29) by EBC President Laerte Rímoli and Kazakhstani Ambassador to Brazil Kairat Sarzhanov, who represented Kazinform at the EBC headquarters, in Brasília.
“Coming closer to different cultures is very enriching to us. These ties can only be beneficial to both Kazakhstan and Brazil,” Rímoli said, after signing the memorandum.
Rímoli mentioned not only Agência Brasil as key in this initiative, but also referred to TV Brasil—the TV station controlled by EBC—as a major outlet for showcasing the culture of Brazil’s partner countries.
Kazakhstan is “a partner and a friend” of Brazil, Rímoli went on to say. “Such different cultures end up arousing great interest in both places,” he added.
Ambassador Kairat Sarzhanov said that the signing of the memorandum is a way for Kazakhstani culture to become better known among Brazilians.
“Brazil is a key country to Kazakhstan, and that’s why it should become a top priority for our country. Therefore, we place Brazil on our list of countries that deserve maximum attention on the agenda for global projects in the strides towards modernization,” Kairat Sarzhanov.
The ambassador said that the signing of the memorandum is a way for Kazakhstani culture to become better known among Brazilians. “We’re really happy we started this cooperation with EBC. Despite the geographic distance, there’s a huge potential for enhancing relations between the two countries.”
Kairat Sarzhanov noted that Kazakhstan plans to change their writing system from the Cyrillic to the Roman alphabet.
“Our goal with the alphabet switch is to make integration with the world possible, and also facilitate investment coming from overseas. As we also intend to bring Kazakhstani literature to all countries—including Brazil—the cooperation memorandum may promote knowledge about our country in Brazil,” the ambassador concluded.
