The Brazilian government has compiled a new list comprising 86 individuals, including Brazilians and their relatives, who wish to depart from the conflict-ridden Gaza Strip in the Middle East to relocate to Brazil. This information was officially confirmed on Tuesday (Nov. 21) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ministry has dispatched the list to Egypt and Israel, awaiting their authorization for the departure of these individuals from the Palestinian enclave. However, no specific deadline has been set for their exit as there are additional lists prioritizing nationals from other countries.

The evacuation of foreigners is being conducted gradually, allowing approximately 600 permits per day, contingent on uninterrupted operations at the Rafah border crossing connecting Gaza to Egypt.

Paulino Franco de Carvalho Neto, Brazil's ambassador to Egypt, clarified that departure from the Gaza Strip is contingent on security service evaluations by the involved countries, including Egypt and Israel. Additionally, authorities from Gaza (controlled by Hamas), the United States, and Qatar, acting as intermediaries, play crucial roles in these negotiations.

Flights

Brazil's Operation Returning in Peace has organized so far ten flights from the conflict zone to repatriate Brazilians and their families. Predominantly departing from Tel Aviv in Israel, one group left from Amman, Jordan, and was repatriated from the Palestinian territory of the occupied West Bank. The latest group, comprising 32 individuals, departed from the Gaza Strip after over a month of tension and distress.

In total, the operation successfully transported 1,477 people, including 53 pets. The composition includes 1,462 Brazilians, 11 Palestinians, three Bolivians, and one Jordanian.
