Brazil donates 11 tons of food to Gaza
On Tuesday (Dec. 12), the Brazilian government delivered 11 tons of food to the people of the Gaza Strip who are suffering the consequences of the war in the Middle East. Donated by the Landless Rural Workers' Movement (MST), the delivery includes organic rice, brown sugar, powdered milk, and cornmeal. The MST's total food donation now amounts to 13 tons.
"We are providing our second food donation to the Palestinian people as a testament to our commitment to international solidarity. People striving for sovereignty, like the Palestinians, require the support of communities worldwide," stated Jane Cabral from the national leadership of the MST.
The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) transported the food to the city of Al-Arish in Egypt, near the Gaza border, where it was handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent, a humanitarian organization operating in the region.
This marks Brazil's third humanitarian flight to the region. On October 18, a Brazilian plane arrived in Egypt carrying 40 water purifiers capable of treating over 220,000 liters per day. The scarcity of drinking water is a primary challenge for the Palestinian people amidst the conflict. On November 2, another plane delivered 2 tons of food, including rice, sugar, corn derivatives, and milk, donated by the MST.
