Conflict in Lebanon: third flight with Brazilians arrives in São Paulo
A Brazilian Air Force KC-30 aircraft departed from Beirut, Lebanon, on Wednesday (Oct. 9), carrying 218 evacuees, including 11 toddlers and 5 pets. The flight landed in São Paulo on Thursday morning (10).
In just five days, the Brazilian government has evacuated 674 people and 11 pets from Lebanon as part of Operation Cedar Roots, which remains ongoing.
The aircraft delivered Brazil's second shipment of strategic health supplies to Lebanon, including 491 kilos of medicines, rehydration packets, and disposable syringes. Additionally, it carried 7 tons of medicines gathered through an initiative led by the Lebanese Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro.
The first flight of the operation arrived at São Paulo Air Base on Sunday (6), carrying 228 returnees. The second repatriation flight landed on Tuesday (8), bringing in another 227 passengers.
The Brazilian government estimates that around 3,000 people in Lebanon have requested assistance to leave the country. It is believed that approximately 20,000 Brazilians currently reside in Lebanon.
